YIRGACHEFFE

Our current coffee offering is a washed process, dried on African raised beds, single origin coffee from Ethiopia. The coffee comes to us from the Yirgacheffe regions. The farms sit at an altitude of 1000-2250 masl.

Ethiopia is considered to be the birthplace of coffee. With the coffee produced having a lot of unique and flavorful aromas, it's a favourite among many. This in part is due to the many different coffee shrub varieties that grow within the Ethiopian regions. 

The Gedeo zone is within the state of Southern Nations and Nationalities People’s Region in Yirgacheffe, which is a woreda (district) within the Gedeo Zone. The coffee is chiefly grown by small land holders who own around .25 to 2 hectares of land, which they call the garden production system. The small farms have crops growing under the shade of false banana and other nitrogen crops. The coops and washing and drying stations are the assembly points where all the cherries are collected for processing.
